16 Hours made the difference...

Three days before the end of this year’s spring semester, Elijah, a youth involved in our program was at a point of crisis. Failing at school and ineligible for football, he started to experiment with drugs and confessed during a conversation with me to hopeless thoughts. Elijah’s homelife was a mess. Football had become a lifeline of structure, positive adults and peer groups, and hope for a future. I knew that unless we could help him raise his grades to address his eligibility, his lifeline to summer football would be cut, likely making him a statistic.

Elijah's story continued from email...

Our academic support staff stepped in and provided 16 hours of tutoring over the next three days, helping Elijah become eligible. As a result of that support, Elijah did participate in the summer football program, play for the team in the fall, was voted the most improved student by the teachers of his Highschool, and received an invite to work out for Texas A&M this December.

Elijah’s life was changed by intentional effort by a staff that cost $480 in staff time. Donations, no matter the size, can change the course of a youth’s life.

That is why I am extremely proud that Turning Point of the City is uniquely placed to recognize and be present at a youth’s critical life-changing moments.

As we continue to expand our reach, in order to ensure we can continue to provide the staff needed to be present during those critical moments, we need to raise $6000 by the beginning of the year, and another $6000 in monthly commitments over the next twelve months.

Will you prayerfully consider being 1 of 10 needed new $50 a month donors?  Or, if you are able, would you consider making a one-time donation toward our immediate goal of $6000 dollars? Your donations are tax deductible. Your gift this Christmas will enable us to reach those who truly need it and change lives! Thank you for your consideration!

Quick comment: People wonder why I can’t get good photos of the youth I work with.

The one smiling is Taylor and he is on staff.
